Re: bav 31 designed for inland waterways

I cant remember where I read that - I apologise if I misrepresent the Bav31. Check with James Jarmain, a regular poster here, and YM testing regular. I did not imply that the 31 was not seaworthy, just that it was narrow, and did not sell that well in UK. If it is narrower, with a bit more depth under the bow, it should sail better than the fatter Bav32 / 34

Re: Maximum force 3-4

Many thanks - I like the "different" look of the Legend, but understand the curved cockpit can become more difficult under way. The question of it's rig is also coming to the fore - I do not want something that is going to need constant attention. Tending to go off it a bit now, though SWMBO does like the cabin (she also likes the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 32 interior too). I guess something at the Show will jump out and grab us!

nicho,

Have you had alook at the seaquest, sailed a sj320 back from the Solent and it was against a real blow 6-8, it went like a train to windward, and off the wind it was so impressive that the long passage was cut by hours.
It did slam a bit but nothing bad. We did pas one other yacht out there that day, and left it in our wake.
But it has great interal volume, and very impresively finnished off with all the usual refinements. As for the marina comforts it has good accomodation, I was very impressed, especially with the sailing performance, being out in such a blow it did behave its self very well, even though the design would indicate otherwise.
Dont know how much they are, but I know they are built in Falmouth in Cornwall, and I would of thought they were at the Southampton Boat Show.
Dont know if this is of any help, but its worth looking at I would of thought.

Regards Rob

Re: Bav 34 for you - yes, but check best deal

Bav 34 is going to be the Fulmar of the decade - strong, well appointed, spacious and goes very well - I have just paced one into Cherbourg harbour in light airs and made little dent on it with my Bav 38!

But do check key European distributors for the best deal; boat shows are the obvious places for specials; the price difference is less now than it was 3 years ago, the UK distributors are more price conscious than they were, but there's still daylight between the offers! No doubt same for French boats.

good luck.

Re: Maximum force 3-4

Personally I think as a modern hull the Jeanneaus beat the other Euro yachts hands down.. on sailing performance and sea ability.. I prefer their more functional approach to layout too... Watch out Ken will have you sailing away into the sunset in a Twister..
