which boat TV aerial would you recommend for the solent area . At the moment i just have a indoor aerial which works most of the time but bloody annoying when it does not.

The TV transmitters are visible in the middle of the Isle of Wight and as a result in most places the signal is strong (not Cowes YH, which I suspect is shielded below the main signal beams). We had a Status with booster on the last boat, but I have just fitted a Maplins clip on that I attach when we moor up, and the signal is excellent.

I prefer this to extra clutter on the radar mount.

+1 for the Maplin job. Works brilliantly, seems to perform better than the very expensive status flying saucers....

we have an Avtex TV on board and with the Avtex aerial which is also powered through the aerial cable it gives us an excellent reception and loads of freeview channels pretty much everywhere we go. Kept it when we sold the motorhome to get a bigger boat...

We receive good signal but had issues with directional antenae and 4G interference. I stuck a Maplins omni directional aerial up. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-caravan-omni-directional-aerial-n87nx

Works a treat without the booster. The booster was rubbish, counter productive and was quickly discarded.
