We currently travel two hours to the Norfolk Broads and its too far.
We need to live no more than one hour from the City and as close to or on the water.Dont fancy living in London and the Thames is too far west and then theres LHR so where should we look. The Medway looks tempting but am not sure.
Isn't this just a great forum?

I am staying right here in the CI buying a house in France on the Trieux and keeping our apartment on the Costa.

Just got to get my own business earning more than my daytime wage so I can semi retire!!!

Dom

I am boating again ;-)

Medway is OK, loads of places to boat to and some cheap mooring places as well.

Re: Ahar! Norwich?

Fine if you don't want to actually go anywhere else by car. Bloody hours in any useful direction to anything useful.

They are all a bit interbred up there also ;-)

yada yada..

Yerrs.O Arrr. When ever I go to Norwich there is always some "countryside"person (subsidy junkie) in a bluddy morris 1000 doing 20 mph for the last 20 miles.

Just hold tight dear it will not be so rough when we get round the corner, trust me.

Mmm.. A11, the last bit from winmundom, wyndunham or however you spell it, been there done that. Why is it that you can never get a pot noodle to the right conistancy, Fill it the fill level and its too runny, fill it a mm below and its like pollyfiller. Not boating related I know but I've just spilt it over the laptop!!!!

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Re: Ahar! Norwich?

Living on the coast (front garden down to high water line) east of Norwich I can assure you that times are changing. They have now put tarmac on the roads and widened them to dual carriageway apart from the last 10 miles to the coast :)

Wakeup I must let you know I am a pedigree through and through and not interbred :)

Barry the place you are spelling is Wymondham pronounced Windham and then there is Happisburgh pronounced Haizeboro' and many more. These are villages named by an ancestor of hlb :)

Robin you are already on the Broads able to get out on the boat when the weather is not so perfect and still have access to the sea.

Along the River Orwell would be my ideal place to live boating wise as other posters have said but outside of Ipswich
