Could anyone offer some advice? I have a 19 foot trailer sailer that I use on Windermere every so often but it's a real (drag) having to tow it there and back for each day I want to sail her. I would like to be able to leave it there for a week/weekend or so at a time. I am not looking to join a club or pay huge mooring fees. I am looking for somewhere reasonably secure on the hard (or water for that matter) and I don't know where to start looking or who to ask. The only things I can find are season long contracts or clubs. I have not sailed this season yet so I've not been up to ask around. I launch at Bowness. Might anyone be able to start me off?

Thanks.

William.

Lots of people would like similar. I live near the lake and keep my boat in the garden, but it's a small boat and a small garden, albeit on a farm. The farmer isn't keen on lots of stuff hanging around and has just yold his gamekeeper to get shut of various trailers and Landrovers and stuff.
That's the nature of the area. People with land either don't want to have it cluttered, or have sussed it's value and charge accordingly.
People who may be receptive often only have a small patch. Land is very scarce here, believe it or not.

I quite often see a boat storage sign while going over Crook. Its one of the farms on the right hand side of the road (Heading towards the lake). There is a small sign on the side of the road.

Sorry I cant be more exact.

given that the Rugby and Football season has just finished it might be a nice little earner for one of the local clubs,, if not their hallowed turf then maybe their car parks or whatever..

When we lived in Scotland we used to spend the occasional weekend in Ambleside and we used to walk from the town down to the pub that sits right on the lake shore..
Lake Side Inn or Lake Edge .. cant remeber.. (The Bluebird IPA is well worth the visit alone)..
and our walk down took us past the Rugby Club... they could fit quite few trailers in their little patch..

good luck with your quest
