Where to locate hose for auto bilge pump on a Westerly Pageant?

Hi,

I've not done this before and I spent a few minutes trying to figure it out this afternoon.

I've fitted an auto bilge pump under the engine on my Westerly Pageant albeit I'm struggling to think through where to locate the 1" hose.

I think that I need to come up through below the quarter berth(s) but then I'm not sure where to go from there. I'm probably making it more complicated than it needs to be. Do I aim to drill through into the rear cockpit locker to feed the hose through before connecting onto a through hull skin fitting on the transom. If I do this I would think that the level of where the hole is in the locker wall will then allow water to drain from the locker into the bilge?

If I opt to go out through the side of the hull I think I would have to rise through the quarter berth up into the bulkhead clamping the hose until it then connects onto a through hull skin fitting. This doesn't seem appropriate either?

What is the 'standard' ?

Thanks.

There is no "standard" - only a basic principle that the output hose should go above the waterline in a loop and down to an outlet through the hull. You may well get some run back when the pump stops unless you fit a NVR. The details of how you achieve this vary with the layout of your boat. If you eliminate all leaks into your boat from outside your pump should die of old age!

Fix the leaks, don't pump out oily water from under the engine.
You don't want the pump coming on in harbour and landing you a big fine.

If possible I would have located the pump ( a low profile Whale Supersub perhaps) under the cabin sole with the discharge hose running forward and looped up to close under the deck in the hanging space before falling to a skin fitting closer to the water line

But you really should not need an automatic bilge pump in a Pageant
