Hi to the Bristol Channel Forum. We have recently moved to West Wales from Kent and, having sold our yacht, we just have our 4 metre Avon and outboard sitting in the workshop.

We are about 30 minutes from Burry Port which we love to visit but so far no trips out on the water have been possible. However with a few days of sun behind us recently, an old man's thoughts turn to the sea...

Which leads me to the question of where one could go from Burry Port in a small boat and what the tidal window is. We usually time our visits for low tide so we can walk on the beach but presumably the tide comes in some time :D.

I have seen some pictures of small boats from Burry Port pulled up on to the beach - I just don't know which beach!

Is it possible to land on the Gower?

So many questions and who better to answer than the esteemed forum members?

Thanks in anticipation...

From there in a RIB there are loads of great places to explore/camp. All the Gower but I would head the other way to spots around Manobier and Caldy island. Suppose fuel calcs are most important down there!

Tenby would be good, plus Carmarthen if you fancy inland.
Not sure going to Milford Haven area would be worthwhile, unless you intend going up to Haverfordwest (once past Neyland, its lovely).
Other direction, Swansea, via all the Gower beaches - Oxwich worth a visit & reasonably sheltered + Mumbles/Oystermouth.
