So I'm looking for some plastic sheet material that has a sectional profile similar to that below ( sorry for the poor quality of the sketch but it gives the idea!).
The sizes shown are approximate. I've googled all over but don't seem to be able to locate a source.
I've come across it before as a 'seperator' and packing used in the assembly of cells in large batteries when housed in steel cases, ie traction batteries etc.
It allows the individual cells to shed heat etc yet remain well supported over the whole of the cell wall.
It is for this similar use that I am looking for some as I build a new housing for my Lithium batteries but having googled and contacted many of the obvious like battery makers / repairers I'm not getting a lot of joy. Does anyone know of a source please?

Hi P, yes I'd found quite a lot of that material but it falls down in having a 'full' surface at both sides if you know what I mean, though thinking on it it might suffice as the thin plastic skin would be preferable contact to the batteries then the dense material of the locker/ box sides ie ply etc.......better for removing any build up of heat etc

A bit long winded but you could drill rows of holes in the stuff Poignard found, it would be strong but well ventilated.

That's also not too bad an idea in that if I can't get the original then a series of holes (a 5 in dominoes style) on each side would improve the ventilation no end of the material P and F suggest......all good stuff!

Try a roofing supplier - it's ringing a bell; under tile/slate ventilation or some such.

Depending on how large a piece you need I could 3D print you some to the exact profile.

Is this what you were thinking of Kevin? If so thanks but its too large a 'gauge' in that the flutes are 50mm and it appears too 'flimsy' as its made from PET.......the same as they make plastic bottles from I think! But thanks anyway!

I know exactly what you want. It's used as separators for cells in traction batteries. Details are on work pc but won't be in before tuesday
Super.....yes that is exactly what I'm thinking of !
Will pm you my email address if you'd be so good as to send me some details!
