Where to buy red ensign in woven polyester?

I want to buy a new red ensign in woven polyester, not sewn, not cotton. Long side about 47" (for 47 foot boat).

There are many to choose from, any suggestions where to get a good one?

Largish flags are usually sewn out of polyester. The days of wool bunting are long gone. Pesky moths ate my father's code flags.

I thought the best were sewn panels of MOD grade fabric.

I think sewn flags look tatty even when new, woven makes more sense to me.

The best ones are, although I think mine probably dates from the days of wool bunting

Some are, some have the pattern woven into the cloth. Much nicer IMO.

Are they acrually woven into the cloth? I know that cheaper ones are just printed and better ones are sewn. I haven't seen ones that are woven into the cloth. We had trouble getting a decent ensign and I know we handed one sewn one back. It didn't look great and they'd even left off the toggle to save some pennies. I'll SWMBO where she bought our latest one.

Company I worked for used to impress school kids with their tartan dye many years ago. The secret lay in the white tartan cloth used, so anything is possible. Impressive though, white cloth into brown mixture and hey presto, nice when in tartan when it came out.

Never seen one with pattern woven into cloth. I bought one of these 2years ago still looks as new, if it frays they repair it for free.

Sorry to put some left lock on a right-hand thread, but why does that site give 2 seperate sizes for 1 yard ensigns ? The quote both 91x45 cm and also 91x61 cm but surely one of the other of these is "correct" ?

One is a 1yd ensign the other is an odd 3ft x 2ft.

The squarer ones can look good flown from a gaff, or from the main mast when dressing ship. Look at old pictures of sailing ships and quite often you'll see that the flags are shorter and taller than what we generally go with today.

They are both the same type aren't they. Fully sewn woven polyester.

I dont suppose anyone on here has carried out a proper scientifically controlled comparison test of the two makes.

Perhaps I'm wrong then. My son has a Union Flag which appears to be woven, it certainly isn't sewn, and it hasn't faded, so I assumed it wasn't printed. Has printing cloth got better?

So perhaps I will rephrase my question: where can I buy a decent ensign that doesn't look like it was made from leftovers in the sewing box.
