Looking at the various clues:
Flowerbed full of tulips,Man wearing clogs, Flag on the right of the picture, crepe palace just out of sight to the right of the picture...
I would say carentan ...

Strangely enough, I can't remember much about the town itself........ going up the river and through the lock into the short canal were the highlights there.

We were ploughing our way up, nice to see 0.1 on the depth gauge...

I remember the semi ruin (on the port side as you go towards Carentan) with the leading lights on it, and thought that would be a great place to live.....
