My 14mm bow line is about 8metres long because once free from the pontoon I need to tie it onto a vertical handrail back in the cockpit. At the moment it is just wrapped around the handrail many times and then tied off. That's ok but a) it takes a minute to do it and b) the same again to undo c) the bitter end is always flapping about and doesn't look secure. Is there any device that I can fix to the handrail( 1'') and just thread the rope through and press on a clamp lever to secure it ?
You would think it would something simple but I have looked all over and can't see anything but don't want to buy a rope clutch as they are expensive.

cheers for any ideas.

Don't see why you need a clamp? if it's only short term to re use in say a new manoeuvre in the short term, just put a couple of half hitches around the top of one of the stanchion/ guard rails and coil the spare. If a more permanent solution is required, as said, stow and re-install when necessary which could be considered more appropriate and safer.

Coil it up and stow it properly? :)

I think you find find the Op has mobo. I guess you leave the dock lines on the cleats just like you leave the fenders dangling over the side if you have a mobo

Been using Clamcleats for years on previous and current boats and recommend them.

Works great for many purposes, to me especially for fenders. When researching you'll see alternatives that you might consider.

Try a Google for
'cleats clam OR fender'
'rope holder'
