Please help me - i am looking for a belt driven compressor for a thermicool fridge unit, as the coil is shorted to ground - all suggestions are welcomed.
Where can i find fridge parts?

I dont know where you would get the proper part but I had a mate who made a fridge up using a car air conditioning compressor. Do cars in England have air conditioning or is it too cold?;-)

Try one of the caravaning magazines. They usually carry ads for stuff like that - a lot cheaper than a yacht chandlers too.

Best bet is an Air Conditioning/Freezer servicing centre. Have a trawl through Yellow Pages or similar. You'll not just need the compressor but gas, nitrogen and all the other bits together with the knowledge.

I see you're in NZ.
I had the same idea of using a car compressor, but untill just the last few years car air-con was nearly unknown in UK except for super luxury models. Hence not readily available from scrap yards. For some reason I don't quite understand, the majority of new cars now come with it......global warming hasn't had that much effect!!.
