What Transponder for Standard Horizon system ?

Anyone 'added' a transponder to a Standard Horizon Matrix AIS GX2100E VHF

So what did the radio make of seeing an AIS transmitter practically on top of it at all times? Did you just turn off all the alarms and leave it? As far as I'm aware, there's no way of telling it "don't worry, that one is you". Or, since it's a VHF and knows its own MMSI, is it clever enough to work this out?

yes it's clever enough to do that.

I'm sure lots of people have added an AIS transponder to a boat with a GX2100E, does the plotter really matter? What aspect of doing so are you concerned with?

Hi Nigel

I only mentioned the system to give an overall view of whats existing, if a transponder is connected to the radio only what wiring is involved and which Transponder was used.

My main reason for asking is I have read so many forums on interface problems that I do not want to invent the wheel!

Therefore it's nice to know if someone has already done it and is happy with the results.

I'm not sure I understand your question. You surely wouldn't connect a transponder to your radio? It would be connected to the plotter, if anything, wouldn't it? If you already have the AIS receiver in your radio connected to the plotter, you don't really need to connect the transponder to anything.
