I sail mainly in the Baltic, am swedish, and have very limited experience of the waters around Britain. I did an uneventful but very interesting week as paying crew sailing from Hamble to the channel Islands, but that is all.
In the long threads on Hot Liquid I understand that entering the ports Brighton and Dover or Ports inbetween is dangerous. From some stories and videos I have seen I can only agree. But what to do then, what should a boat in Liquid Vortex situation have done if steering and engine were working properly? Taken a chance and go into Dover or proceeding and taking left towards London trying to find shelter along the coast.
Or is the Dover strait a too dangerous place to be in such weather?
