My rudder goes all the way over to practically ninety degrees and is therefore tricky to use. I want to put in some stops, but what angle should I set them for? I've seen 30, 35, and 45 degrees recommended. All advice appreciated.
I have a Trident Voyager 35. My rudder stops are at 32 degrees. I have read that 30 - 35 degrees is the maximum usable angle - beyond that you are just creating turbulance and slowing the boat down.
Hi Steve
35 degrees would the maximum, my rudder has 12% balance and is limited to 30 degrees, and I have no problem getting into tight spots or turning in small areas. You also run the risk of breaking a rudder if turned too far at speed.
