In the next few seasons I will be starting to look for a bigger boat. I currently have a Leisure 17 SL. I will be looking for something with a roomier cabin (head standing great but not fussed) a small galley, heads, a good berth, a table with somewhere to fit one or two people round it and most importantly... a diesel engine (having the prop behind the rudder and having to lean over the stern to adjust speed is starting to annoy me). Ideally it would be 25 ft or under and CHEAP !. I know its asking alot for so many features but im sure someone maybe has a few ideas. The leisure 23sl is tempting but would be interested to hear thoughts.

you want my Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 30..... not quite under 25' .... but you could fit quite a few round the table - important when entertaining wine/whisky bringing guests!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

GK24, lots of boat for not a lot of cash, well built and very fast for it's size. I did some very fast and windy passages in mine before I sold it.

Engine - Some inboard, some outboard.

Rig - Some masthead, some fractinal. The fractional is probably a bit more of a handfull.

Keel - Most were 5' Iron Keel, but there are a few with a 4' keel

Lot's of sitting headroom but there is no way you will stand, however the beam makes the internal space very good for a 24' boat.

Not all Outboard powered boats have prop behind the rudder, some eg Hunter Horizon 23 have it in the seat locker, or infront of the rudder, etap 22. Outboards can work well for small boats. I use one in a locker and its great economical easy to service set up.

Firefly, you raise a good point. I havent seen to many that have a well in the cockpit but i will defintely make it an option as it is cheaper.
