what makes a good sailing sock?

The sea boot socks I was issued with when I was working to wear inside wellies.

I very seldom wore wellies so the new pair of socks every few weeks built into a good stock over nearly 30 years . Should see me out!

I do hope this is not boring to non sockest sailors who only sail in sockless desck shore

when going sailing I count black cotton socks out - one pair for each day, They are the same so re-pairing them is easy

Then I reckon on half as many pairs of oversocks.

usually market thinsulate types

my mum used to knit really good woollen ones.

If it is wet I sail in Dunlop £10 wellies

if it is dry I sail in walking boots

if it is warm then it is deck shoes

I worked at a landfill site for a while - they issued lovely white socks - mostly wool, hard wearing, warm

never seen their like since.

maybe those are the ones Vic has managed to squirrel away.

I hope he remembers who to leave them to when it comes to writing his will

Please send any surplus size 11 socks to

Pricey but you can wear one pair for a week!
'Alpaca naturally repels bacteria so you can wear these socks without ever needing to wash them - perfect for a week away in the boat where space is short - you will only need to take one pair and you can even sleep in them'

Daughter took them down to the Southern Ocean and has raved about them ever since!

you have never met my feet after a week in one pair of socks

that would be a fearful thing to contemplate

Try a pair of Bridgedale Trekker or if you prefer something that would be suitable for really cold weather try
Bridgedale Summit. They both work a treat for me. Most good outdoor shops stock them.
Do you really need a pair of waterproof socks (sealskins) if you are wearing boots?

Sailing socks !!!!

only sail in bear feet

It was so hot last week I would sail with nothing on at all except shoes to save burning my feet on the hot deck.

what a co-incidence. I was sailing in Cornwall at exactly the same time

same conditions too

roasteroo

manta rays gliding through the crustal clear waters while I was spear fishing, sharks, pine-apples growing along the banks of the Fal

marvelous
