What is you sailing ambition?

Sailing from the UK to the Mediterranean -
at present I'm half way there, over wintering in Vigo.

After that, a slow stately progression across the Med, season by season
until we bump into Turkey.
After that - well hopefully by then I'll have some new plans.

Next year, to get far enough west to visit Padstow and Milford Haven. The year after, I'd like to make it around the corner to Falmouth, perhaps Fowey or Plymouth before heading back.

In the years to come, once the pressures of work ease off a little, I'd quite like to reach the Azores. Plenty to distract myself with in the meantime however.

I would love to circumnavigate the world, on a comfortable seaworthy yacht, and have enough money to enjoy it. Often when I go down to the marina I imagine what it would be like if this was the time I was setting off for my circumnavigation adventure......sailing is freedom .

To sail around Britain is on my bucket list but at the moment we're based on the Baltic and we've hardly scratched that area and there's so much to see, Sweden, Denmark, Poland etc....circumnavigation of Britain looks to be a distant dream!

Plan to thoroughly visit Kenmare River, Bantry Bay, Dunmanus Bay. I have poked my nose into them all over the years, but now I plan to spend the whole summer 'Doing' them proper like.
I think I might get to visit most of the harbours and little quaysides down there if I get out of Galway bay early enough. Pray for a good summer.
Dylan, you are a great inspiration to us all.

Yeah my UK circumnav would include a lot of time in the SW and W of Ireland....

Always wanted to get over to Ireland and take it from there , my Wife is stopping work next year and prep is underway for the big off , house rented out , kids gone , we have chalked in a 6 to 10 year circumnavigation , sometimes I feel excited and others I shit myself at the thought of it , but I really can't wait to get going when July 25th 2017 comes around ... ⛵️⚓

Blss you Ron.

I plan to spend a summer taking the Minstrel up the Shannon. I have spent many happy hour exploring it on Google Earth. being able to drop the mast should allow me to get to nearly all the navigable bits.

D

Round Britian via the Shetland Isles and Fair Isle (I have cousins on Fair Isle and Shetland)
Spend a summer in the Western Isles of Scotland (a seperate cruise to the Round Britain)
Ireland
Scillies and Channel Islands
Find places in France and Belgium that we actually like :D
The Netherlands

and when we've done all that, do it again!

No great ambitions to cruise beyond what was traditionally referred to as Home Waters (The UK and the near continent between Brest and the Elbe) except perhaps Sweden which looks interesting

No desire to make long passages and no ambition to sail across oceans. (Once upon a time I dreamed of doing so. Now I've realised that my preference is very strongly towards coastal cruising preferably with a decent pub at the end of the day!)

Right now my ambition is to get the flppin' heating installed before it gets properly cold!

As sailors we all have dreams and aspirations some of which we will do and some we will never do.
It may be to take a boat out on your own, to live aboard full time or to sail around the world.
What is your sailing ambition?

What about you Nostro - are you still living the dream??!

As a "dream" it would be a very long and slow circumnavigation, visiting as many places as possible, possibly for as long as we were able to phyiscally sail for. Believe it or not I would take the wife to share the experience with, funds however will not allow this at the moment.

Reality would be a solo transatlantic but again with "life" it'll be a good few years away.

Short term will be the Jester Baltimore Challenge, which time and money wise is do-able.

For now it'll be getting the boat how I want it but we're all doing that...

My sailing ambition is to go into some chandlers, somewhere in the world and hear the words 'Yes, we have exactly what you need right here'.

One can dream........
