There is Pearl standing abandoned of the dock side in Chatham Historic Dockyard, it has been there for years.
Similar scenario ?
This boat appears on the market every now and then, initially when the first buyer realised what he had taken on and then presumably subsquent owners come to same conclusion, the price slowly going down.
The storage cannot be cheap.
Anybody who can afford / wants one of these will demand one with a spotless history in order to resell easily and anybody unwary enough to considering buying simply because its cheap probably does not have the funds to refurbish properly and could not afford to run or moor it anyway.

Without exception every single example of these amazing "opportunities" to a buy a cheap boat seem to have totally optimistic pricing, especially now with it being a buyers market, probably with a turn key example of this or similar boat awaiting a decent offer from that very rare species ..............................a buyer.

I'd guess you'll never refit the interior to original spec, unless you are a skilled carpenter it will always look somewhat different. Might find that limits the appeal to future buyers. Just read it has damage to the foredeck ... even if at a lower price it would be brave to take this on, I wouldn't.

This looks not as a good project:
I wouldn't pay more than the residual value of the Volvo engines - if they are still functional at all. Otherwise the value of the boat is zero.

A rebuild or refit certainly requires 90 days of professional work - many parts have to be completely replaced / redone. I don't think that's worth it.

An equivalent boat in good condition can probably be bought for around EUR 150,000.

I looked at a Fairline 40 that burned down internally and was done up. it looked great but the smell and the thought of the boat being on fire put us off, even though attractive price and great looking boat.

Boats have enough work on them even if they are new, you will be buying lots of work with very little reward?
