In recent years whales have been returning to our waters in increasing numbers.
Sometimes boat operators bringing their boats too close to whales in an attempt to get a closer look.
This could be dangerous as a whale, particularly a female with a young calf, can feel threatened by this behavor and unexpectedly react. Vessels should also keep well clear during mating time as whales get quite boisterous.
