I beg to differ. I did not know a lot of this stuff, so Then I must also be out of touch.
Each person knows what they know and not ever thing others know or this world and forum would be incredibly boring .

Cleaning garage to-day came on a railway book with a picture as follows,

experimental Michelin railcar,.......... speciel pneumatic rubber tyres....... a drop in air the air pressure of any wheel ( there was 10 ) sounded a horn in the driver's cab.

Picture was taken in 1931, low priority on the design list??????????.

BMW Supply a run flat tyre that allows you to travel at speeds up to 50mph for up to a hundred miles, The problem is that these tyres do not feel the same as normal pnuematic tyres, the ride is much harder and the handling is not so precise.
They also have a clever pressure monitoring system which uses the abs senser in each wheel and monitors the rolling circumference of the tyres, if you have a drop in presure the circumference decreases and a light comes on on the dash.
