SWBMTB and I had a pub lunch with Forbsie yesterday whist we watched it p*ss down and then it got drier so after a coffee on the boat Forbsie p*ss*d off and we set off down river from Chertsey ending up at Hampton Court for the night rafted alongside friends on a Broom and it rained a bit on and off and I even did a good turn acting as ferry for 8 of us to the Fox on The River where the food was good and the price was v reasonable but the service was crap and when we came back it was dark and I put my nav lights on for real and they worked......such excitement. And during the night it bucketed down so this morning I could see where all the leaks were and got handy with the sikaflex gun before we went down to Kingston cos swbmtb likes to go shopping there but never buys anything which is quite nice. Then we went back to Hampton Court and stopped for lunch and Eddie and Angela Donn turnned up in their Sealine 215 Canta Libre which they trail all over the place (5 pages Sept 1999 MBM) just back from Ramsgate and the MBM cruise and then we left to go back to Chertsey and just as we got to every lock it absolutely p*ss*d down whilst we were going thru and I was ok in the dry cos the sikaflex had worked but swbmtm got a bit wet (well bloody soaked really) cos she does the foredeck bit and doesnt like driving so after we tied up she had to wear a pair of my shorts tied up with rope and she did a reef knot and was quite proud of herself.
So that was our weekend ................how was yours?

Well my weekend consisted of wrestling with "that" bloody water pump, Fitting a new stereogram cos "SHE" broke the last one and trying to get the water mark out of the gel coat. I got well and truely soaked and well pee'd off. Am now thinking of taking up a hobby where it don't cost loads and you actually get to do it! now and again!!!!!

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Tony SWBMTM, swbmtb ? please translate. Shame the ruddy nav lights worked bet you were looking forward
to pulling them apart heh. Trying to get the picture of Maggie in your shorts out of my mind. A least your
lady is willing to handle wet ropes in the rain, mines not keen at all. Any prospect of rain on the forcast and
its "we cant go out this weekend cos its raining you can stay at home and do the garden - um in the rain"
The boaters enemy is wind not rain
Just look at lasts night closing festival in Manchester. Imagine the organisers
saying we'll have to put it off cos it looks like rain, tell her Majesty she can stay at home.

As it transpires here in sunny surrey it did'nt start until gone 3pm and then it was light.

Re: SWBMTB.......

Funny no-ones asked this before.....! SWBMTB = She Who Bought Me The Boat - pretty cool eh....it was my birthday present last year 'cos she wanted a bit more room and comfort.
Now, if this revelation should enable any of you to use a bit of knock on moral pressure on YOUR other half then I will expect a small token of appreciation !

MInd you, she didnt try to improve on her magnanimity this year - reverted to her usual practice of buying me an ornamental duck cos she likes them. Its a very BIG duck tho', sits on the cabin top inside the cockpit - also quite realistic so we get lots of oohs and aahs as other boats go by and kids gongoozling at locks say things like look mummy(daddy/grandma/grandad etc etc)...theres a duck on that boat !
Actually, I think its a goose but there you go, I never was much good with birds. Anyway, MoBoDuck is now part of the crew but just sits there and does bugger all but looks quite nice alongside the flowers swbmtb sometimes buys and pretends they're from me.

Re: SWBMTB.......

Flat where? On top or at the end? The lock keeper at Sunbury said he thought it was a Goose - a Canadian Goose at that. Anyway, who cares, MoBoDuck sounds much better than MoBoGoose - at least I thinks so ..........

Re: SWBMTB.......

Flat on top - and ducks are smaller, geese have long necks and attack you - I know, we have a (guard) goose and one(+3 wild) ducks, I've never been attacked by the ducks but the goose still has a go at me even now, must be the pherenomes... did you know geese can live to 40? ours is now 23 and the duck is 13...

I know, I\'ll cook............

......the bloody thing. Then I'll know that if it doesn't taste like duck I'll have cooked my goose.....
On second thoughts, I shall take a picture of MoBoDuck and put it on the boaters gallery then you can all tell me what you think it is !

Glad to hear its not just my P32 that leaks - been trying to trace the last one but it's a bit elusive.
Bad day Saturday - fitted new water tanks - old pipes + new fitting=grief! Finally thought I had cracked it but they b****y well leaked. Dismantle and lots of mastic - fingers still crossed.
Sunday good. Took friends out for the first time and despite all indications being that we would spend much of the day staring glumly out of rain lashed windows we seemed to be in a bubble of good weather, which followed us about. Even had a barbecue at Bramerton and cruised back to the marina in sunshine. On the way home everywhere was wet - not like me to have such good fortune.
Got 2 weeks onbard as of this weekend - hoping that things get better!

Personal Statement

I am definitely a Duck, the shape of my beak is a very personal matter and I try to avoid being run over.
I may have more to say later but I will certainly resist any attempt to get me into the oven.
