West coast to east coast

I am looking at a 40' boat in Plymouth. If I bought it I would have to get back to the east coast. Could anyone suggest the best stops along the south coast?
I would expect to cruise at at 15-18kts. Thank you in anticipation.

I guess it depends on the boat's range, and if you just wanted to get back as quickly as possible or if you wanted to take your time

The boat would do it in one leg range wise but there will be three on board and we don’t want to do a night passage on a new boat. Time is not of the essence but would not be making a holiday of it.

On that basis I'd probably do Plymouth to the Solent (Lymington or East Cowes) on day 1, day 2 to Ramsgate, day 3 across estuary to East coast - not sure how far up you'll be going. You should be able to do all those legs in daylight this time of year.

Done it a few times. Found Gosport Dover and Lowestoft Haven marina good stopovers for nights sleep. All handy for meal ashore and shopping if needed.
