The 5-25 K bracket are not the lifestyle/ staycation / change of life - boats that are holding up price wise , that’s driven the demand and prices up .
Poundland can only dream of the % uplift in demand / sales that luxuary items are experiencing right now .
That 40;% sales rise with Bentley was just an indicative example.
Not my figure the CEOs .You heard him .
I am not gonna speculate on Fair prin seekers or Ferretti order books .
Folks on here already reporting loooooong lead times for new builds and folks also bringing up the apparent price inflation of recent years ie a 50 ftr FB was 500 K 5 yrs ago now over 1M with spec .

US consumers report shortages .
Demand is unprecedented, not enough ships to bring containers in .80 ships waiting to unload at LA docks .
Shortages of lorries and drivers to shift the stuff once its off the ships .

What do you mean “ your issue “ ? Btw . I have no issue with rising boat prices and understand what and where the drivers are .

You have not given any reasons or analysis or backed up your assertion you keep dropping into which boat to buy threads , that prices are gonna fall / crash / bubble burst / etc .

Admit defeat and buy some sort of mobile home and large amounts of stretch fabric clothing in pensioner Beige from M&S or adverts in the Daily Mail.

What an interesting prejudice, you and Bigplumbs could be great friends I'm sure. :)

Meanwhile, it doesn't apply to anyone I know who's bought a boat. Most think it's great and go on to buy a bigger one. I know a bloke who claims on the Internet to have 11 of them!

.........and thats when it all goes really wrong. Bigger the boat the less fun and enjoyment and the less it gets used, especially when you need crew ?
When it takes more time to plan and organise a fun filled trip than to do the actual journey. :)
Look in any marina to find out which boats actually get used and which are Marina Queens.

Wow, everyone is getting it wrong aren't they!? :D

They're either buying boats and scaring themselves and then not using them and selling them, or they're buying boats, enjoying it and buying bigger ones, and that's wrong too!

Love the snobbery on this forum sometimes, 'everyone else is an idiot, but not meee!'

Hang on a minute though, aren't you looking to move up from a 35ft to a 40+ft boat, having previously owned a 33ft boat?

Surely you're not getting it wrong too... ;)

For the chief officer and myself a bigger boat transformed our boating experience for the better . Much greater comfort in all departments.
With occasional exceptions the boat is ready to go at short notice. I don't see where the size of the boat comes into that. In fact stuff may well be easier to get at with a bigger boat .

But I do think it is possible to go too big for two people to handle . A 48ft near us never goes far , probably due to costs and fear of not finding a mooring.
For me the first year of ownership is where the boat has to prove itself . However there is always some fault waiting to reveal itself.

Ease of access becomes important with the advancing age of the skipper and crew . For example a boat that has to be accessed by a ladder and/or with difficult engine access may not be the best choice for folks above a certain age.

A careful read of posts regarding any search for the next boat might suggest one or two strict(ish) self imposed restrictions on the search.
No more than a certain length of boat due to inability to handle boat without assistance and important engines under a certain size due to inevitable rises in diesel fuel, specifically marine diesel not forgetting the cost of maintenance if anything major goes wrong big time.
Pointless buying a boat you cannot handle on your own and also being unable to afford to fill with fuel .

Some might call it snobbery some might suggest it is a hard learned result of 50 years of not just owning boats but actually using them. . :)
 
I think some peopl have so much cash they do not realise what normal people Feel and find out about the cost of boat ownership as well as other real hassle and that is why soon there will be many on the market. Also many of the smaller boats that were sitting in the nettles are back in circulation and some of those will be back up for sale.

People who thought they would use their new to them boat 20 or so times but only used it twice will also realise the cost per use. Some of course will keep them many will sell

I find that me and the good lady find it easier to handle the 52ft over my old 30 ft.
its really easy and more stable, i would happily skipper up to 60ft with just one other.
as far as use goes, you can use a bigger boat more often in inclement weather more easily If you want
And fun wise if I’m a bit bored and want to scare myself and nearly fall off and get wet then I will take rib for a spin ?
Usage is what you want it to be, we are often happy to go to the boat and just spend a few days relaxing on her so she may look to sit still but we enjoy her regardless. Saying that we've done 90 running hrs in 8 months ??

We've gradually moved up 'through the ranks' over very many years, as finances have allowed. Better onboard facilities, more space for us and friends/family, better seakeeping. Each move has enhanced the boating experience and increased the amount we are able to use the boat.

It really is an utterly bizarre claim to suggest that moving up to a bigger boat is 'when it all goes really wrong.' Especially from someone moving up to a bigger boat! :D

When we use the boat we often have just as much, if not more sometimes, as much enjoyment when we stay on our home berth.
