Hello I would like to know, what is the cheapest fuel available in England which my Webasto air heater can use.
It will be a different tank to the engine, so HMRC and Belgium are irrelevant.
The model is an obsolete HL3003, but in good working order.
Avturb, Jet A1 has been suggested, as it supposedly burns clean, and it is very cheap, Easyjet pay 30p a litre apparently. But who would sell me fifty quids worth?
How about central heating oil, should be ok?

What do people use? Thanks for any suggestions, legal or not,Jerry

Mine is an Eberspacher, but very similar. I used to run it on the same red disel that drives the boat. However it turns out that the red diesel that I use is a high sulphur, and it caused all sorts of problems in the burner tube. I was advised to use, (and do use) "city diesel". I have used paraffin, or kerosene, but for me, it is more bother to obtain, and seemed ludicrously expensive.

+1. Was advised when I fitted the Eberspacher to use 'city diesel' & touch wood, it has never coked up.

AFAIK most modern oil-fired home heating systems run on kerosene. You could toddle along to your local fuel merchant and get a jerrican filled, or get a friend or neighbour who has kerosene fuelled heating, to have a container filled for you next time they are having their tank topped up.

Is'nt it ironic that the ownership of diesel heating is officially regarded as the justification for having MGO in our tanks when the best fuel for said heating is actually white diesel!

Remember that it's not just heating. It's everything other than propulsion that qualifies for the use of rebated fuel. So all your battery charging for lighting and instruments, heaving up your anchor etc, is a legitimate use.
