Hundreds or thousands or square miles or sea, some open, some channels, some headlands.

Make your own forecast for the bit you are going to visit, and tune in to the Coastguard for confirmation (or otherwise).

Question, do you belive the best forecast or the worst?

The Coastguard take a large amount of flak over weather forecasting. The weather forecast that is read out by HMCG is created by the UK MET office. We just read it out. We often ask the MET office when there is a conflict and they always say that what they have is correct. As has been mentioned already in this thread the art of forecasting is just that an art. The science just helps give information for the forecaster to do their thing. Each forecaster will come up with something different given the same data.
