WD40

I think the product to be used depends on the job.
I often use a light smear of petroleum jelly on bright zinc plated things like clips or+ nuts/bolts . A little goes a long way and its not messy and its very cheap.

On the bow thruster a more heavy duty coating of Waxoyl has been doing good work. It hasn't required re-coating in several years.

On the other hand on painted surfaces perhaps use Demon Shine

I do have a can of the original WD40 product which I must confess to not using much. More for cleaning /degreasing agent than anything else.

I keep WD40 at home for protecting things like tools and bicycles when not in use but for lubrication or penetrating I use the appropriate products.

It is also an effective antiseptic. Recommended by my doctor of 50 years experience.

So after you bark your knuckles undoing frozen nuts/bolts/screws smear some PetJel on.

All we've had so far is posters telling us what they prefer but what's needed is some comparison testing and a report.

Is anything like that available?

Maybe PBO has produced one. B

I have so many cans, tubs etc it is ridiculous.
I even forked out for the 'special' grease for Blakes seacocks once.

I don't know if it really was special.

I do like the AC 50 blue anti corrosion grease, simply because of its colour. I don't know if it does what it says on the tin (plastic tub actually).
