I have a habit of covering things in Fluid Film.

It is also an effective antiseptic. Recommended by my doctor of 50 years experience.I think the product to be used depends on the job.
I often use a light smear of petroleum jelly on bright zinc plated things like clips or+ nuts/bolts . A little goes a long way and its not messy and its very cheap.

So after you bark your knuckles undoing frozen nuts/bolts/screws smear some PetJel on.
The worst thing about the WD products is that the spray container rusts in no time on a boat. I can get 6-12 months out of one and then it's a corroded mess that seems to leak all over the place.
Exact opposite experience, WD40, the penetrant, dry lube and a silicon lube can, on the boat for few years in some case, no rust.
