Water heaters

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a heating element for an ancient American Marine water heater?The element is about 7 inches long with a thread size of 1 inch BSP.American Marine don't know and I've tried all my local supliers.

I have a Business contact that I use for my element requirements. They manufacture all manner of elements and will undertake single "bespoke" work (a lot cheaper than it sounds) If the element boss is a US thread you will need to post the whole thing to them as a pattern, they will generally re-use the boss part if it is an uncommon size. If they cant help no one can!

Water heater heating elements--at least in most US made hot water tanks--are "generic"...the same ones used in household water heaters and are available from any source that carries water heaters. Being in US myself, I don't know whether those made in the US are interchangeable with those made in the UK, though. If not, you'll have to order it from a US source such as Home Depot.

Be sure to specify the length needed.

Heating elements are available in a choice of 1,000 watt or 1500 watt....and it's very important to replace the element with the same wattage element. If an original 1500w is replaced with 1,000w element, it will take much longer to heat the water...if an original 1,000w is replaced with a 1500w element, the wire size may not be sufficient to handle it, creating a fire hazard.
