Watch Azzam passing by

For me she looks nice but is way to big to be practical.
LOL, I can think of several inputs which were given to all the architects (naval, interior, etc.) involved in the project. But I could bet that practicality was not one of them.
You don't have a megayacht owner mentality, I'm afraid! :D
Mind, neither do I. I hate sour grapes, you know...

Not being one I certainly do not know how a mega yacht owner thinks. Looking at your and other peoples trip reports I see lovely anchorages, beautiful marinas, boats rafting up etc. This yacht can't do any of that, that's what I meant with it not being practical.

Because you can ... She is currently the biggest Superyacht out there so it will need all the toys regardless of whether you ever need to use them. ... It's because you can ..

But that doesn't mean you must. Even if I could afford it I wouldn't build a boat that needs 94.000 HP to reach it's cruising speed. I'm no tree hugger by any means but burning that much fuel for bragging rights is somehow just wrong. But that's just my personal opinion.

Think about how many businesses and employees that benefit from such a ship, from the initial designers through manufacture to end user. Then those employed to keep her running 24/7 etc. etc.

As long as she is afloat and in service she keeps people in jobs.

Yeah, I see what you mean of course. These things are meant for an entirely different type of cruising.
Or better said, a different lifestyle: most often than not, guests don't even stay onboard during long passages....!
Horses for courses springs to mind. :)
