Warps Squeaking

We used water hose with string to hold it in place at each end, you will need to make string in/out holes in the hose, it long lasting and as an extra benefit stops chafe.

Thats what we have done at the Pontoon end however at the CLEAT where the warp wraps around - not possible to put hose pipe. Hence plaggy bag, if required.

Don't use washing up liquid - after a few hours it turns into a sort of grinding paste which is deadly to topsides, quite possibly causing interesting chats with the owner of the boat next door !

I found in the absence of proper chandlery packaged ( and priced ) snubbers a standard car roof rack / boat boom tent shock chord, tied around the mooring line in a bight so as to take the tension off the line, works a treat.

That implies you are trying to put hose on the warp around a cleat which there is no point in doing, it doesn't squeak or chafe. The hose is used where the warp goes the fairlead, or am I missing something?

We are getting quite a surge in the marina here in Moana, what is the best way to stop the shore lines squeaking on our cleats?
Thanks in anticipation

Hi, In Beaucette, Guernsey, a prolonged strong NE'ly causes swell to enter the marina and there's surging in certain parts of the marina. At first we suffered the same as you are with squeaking warps. Looking around, the most common anti-squeaker was Tricolflex hose over the warp where it takes the strain on a pontoon cleat and the boat's cleat.

This worked fine until even the tricoflex wore through in one horrid gale. Now we're trying Chafe-Pro (http://www.chafepro.com/) which so far has been perfect, so much so that I'm ordering more.
