Hi

Has anybody any experience in having walnut facias made.

A few years ago I managed locally to get a basic one produced but the company has now dissapeared.

My concern is that for it to look good it may have to have complex curves and therefore Im not sure whether the walnut laminate will succesfully adhere to the birch ply or whatever the producing company might use.

I suppose in total area we are looking at about 40" x 23" to fit over the exsisting black horrible panel.

Any names info would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Kevin

Walnut on a formula? Won't that be a bit like wood in a Porsche 911...never really works.

Have you thought about trying something else, like milled (is that the right word) Aluminium or that fake carbon fibre stuff?

Ahh...sounds much better...had all sorts of horrible visions coming into my head there, I mean where next? You could have added nice waist high guard-rails on the foredeck, lots of lovely Sunseeker-esque tassled scatter cushions down below...hmmm...

As for the dashboard itself, can't be any help though, sorry!

Lol now youve put a picture in my head of just how hideously ruined my boat could be if I let my mum loose on the furnishings!

note to self - keep mum away from the boat.

When I say 'classic' in actuality I just mean old but classic sounds better. That raises the question when does a boat become classic is it after both new and then old if its still around it becomes classic or can a well liked boat jump straight from new to being a classic should opinions state it that way? either way mine is plain old.

Theres a company in Oxshott Surrey that does that sort of thing. They'll make up dash panels to your spec or if you have a pattern they'll copy that. Don't think its real veneer though. Have a look at a few of the classic car mags the number will be in there. What boat is it going into?
Or there is a company called Hydrographics. I've use them for coating various guns etc with Realtree como pattern. They can coat almost anythiung. Looks very good as well the walnuts, ashes, etc. They advertise in some of the Shooting titles. Got no probs with curved surfaces using that method.

Realtree graphics on a dash. Now Barry your just being plane daft.
On a serious note is this the guy who did the weird S**T on the Beretta before Beretta decided it was a good idea and looked kinda nice, then did them bloody orrible abstract patterns in house (apparently selling about two, to women of course)
