Recommend you use the VP stuff Volvo Stern Grease only about £5 for a tube and at the rate I am using mine should last me 10 years.

The Volvo blue shaft grease is really good stuff, and as mentioned above it's one of the few VP products that is reasonably priced.
The only two greases I trust in underwater use are the VP blue (pt. no 828250) or Quicksilver extreme (the green grease, not the more common 2-4-C).
The VP grease is also designed to be able to apply in their shaft seal - that is why is has the long nib on the tube.

Personally ... any good waterproof grease is fine ....
In UK - I used to buy Waterproof Trailer Bearing grease ...... as advised by a respected marine engine service ...

Totally agree, but there in lies the catch - how to know what is a "good" waterproof grease vs one that is junk.
For this application, there are a lot of greases that will do just fine. But having pulled props off sterndrives and outboards for many years as a marine engineer I learned the hard way what worked an what didn't.
Some greases I would never use in submerged applications:
- Generic grease
- White grease
- Super lube (or any other equivalent)
- Copper/Moly slip

As usual . . .
I gave up looking and ordered another tube on Ebay. Less than five minutes later, when not even looking, I found my half-used tube. I have asked to cancel the order.
I believe quantum superpositioning is at work here.
