Volvo Penta Ignition Timing

I am trying to determine the correct ignition timing on my Volvo Penta 431, also known as an AQ205A, which is a 4.3 litre V6. The carburettor cover has a data plate which states that the timing is 6 deg BTDC at 750rpm but the workshop manual (Volvo Penta's own) states 8 deg BTDC at the same rpm.

The engine is circa 1993 and has a transistorised electronic ignition.

Which one would be correct?

Best to set it to 16 @2500 as more reliable.
