Does anyone happen to know what the thread is on the air bleed screw of a cav filter for VP MD2040?
Internet suggested M10x1 but it’s not that.

Trying to buy a suitably sized hose barb to connect to it properly rather than bodging a bit of tube into it.
Thanks

Thanks Paul, unfortunately I’ve seen various quoted including 3/8 in various forms. Was hoping someone would know for sure without me having to buy a bunch of things

I seem to remember they had a UNF thread but a bsp thread was near enough and could be eased in and would seal properly.
Yes it looks like a UNF 3/4 and M10 are very close. I don’t have a way to measure it and would rather not buy another tool (well, rather not store another on board!)

Have you got the screw or is it lost? You only need a steel rule. Internal threads are not as easy to measure.

Yes I have the bolt, I’m not replacing it just buying a hose barb. The problem is it’s ambiguous what type of thread it might be and they’re all pretty similar.

I suggested a steel rule. If it's metric it will very obviously be a whole or half mm pitch. Unless it's 1.25, but that's easy to spot. Inch not so easy, but there's often a 'common factor' of threads per inch counting over a number of fractions. E.G. 28tpi, seven to a 1/4"; 24tpi, 3 to 1/8".

I swapped my Volvo pre filter out for one of these. The access for the original glass bowl set up was terrible and changing filters a messy process.

Anyway that’s not why you rang…it claims to be like for like replacement but wasn’t. UNF fittings on new unit, unfortunately not compatible with my existing fittings and pipework. Like for like…!

I’d guess there’s no right answer to this question.

Thanks all, much appreciated and I did expect this to be the answer but thought I’d ask anyway. I’ll try measuring and see how I get on.
