Faulty tacho on a pair of VP 60C engines.
Going to replace as a matched pair of after market units.
Are pulses sourced from gearbox sender or alternator ?

Sensor on the engine according to here: Electrical system and instrument for Volvo Penta TAMD60C | General sales region, , 2084226-173357

Price, VOLVO PENTA ENGINE SPEED SENSOR 354671 - Golden Arrow Marine

This might be what's wrong with the tachos, or is it just one that's faulty ? You could swap sensors if just one, to confirm the problem. But, whatever it is it'll be pricey at Volvo prices.

Might be worth fitting a coupe of after market tachos and connecting the to the alternators. I have fitted a whole set of KUS gauges to my lower helm and connected the tachos to the alternators, they work fine.

4 Tachos on the boat .Turbo 36,
One on the fly is not working .
Going to replace with couple of KUS ?

Recently did exact same job on my boat, one on the fly kept jamming, it was possible with care to dismantle and clean, soon got fed up with that.
Genuine Yanmar ( sorry tachos with Yanmar on the dial ) were eyewatering and replacements not identical either.
A pair of these did the job purchased direct from China, cheaper than sourcing from any UK stockholder

KUS Engine Tachometer Car Truck Boat RPM Gauge Digital Hourmeter 0-4000 RPM.

Had to run 2 wires from the Fly to a sensor lead already fitted for some reason on my alternators.

Saloon tachos still working from gearbox sender units.

Going to presume that there will not be a lead providing pulses somewhere on the rear of the Turbo 36 alternators ?
Need to locate a "W" terminal.
