Do you think you can put to much grease in on reassembly.

The grease should only be on the lip seal end, not on the fluted rubber portion as this may inhibit water flow which is what keeps it cool.

Plus use the proper Volvo grease. Did try an alternative and it didn't work which meant drying out again, stripping it all down and cleaning it. Replaced with Volvo grease and all fine.

Each year I use about 25mm of grease squeezed in from a straw.

The seal dripped when motoring, fine at rest. Think the grease I tried was Castrol white stuff.

Just chating to a engineer in the yard he said he gets as much in as he can , so I'm happy now. Going back in end of next week.

Volvo say to put in 1cc of grease. I see no sense in deviating from their instruction. Their 25cc tube will last a very very long time.
