Would anyone know if there is any difference on valuation and the brief difference between a Volvo KAD32P and a Volvo AD31P-A

Excellent website and very informative, at first glance Kad has more power and supercharger, AD is turbocharged. From this information I would assume Kad would be more expensive.

Far bigger difference than the 20hp suggests (much greater torque). Hence there will be a large difference in price.

There is not probably a lot of difference in top speed but the effect of the compressors cutting in is very impressive. We are on the plane in seconds with the KAD32s

Sorry you're wrong. A Fairline Targa 30 with AD31's has a top speed of 30knots. The same boat with KAD32's has a top speed of 37knots.

Depends if it was an AD31P or an AD31L as the conventionally aspirated engine is only 130HP

It seems fairly apparent that the KAD is the better of the two engines.
My basic goal was to establish whether the valuation of a boat would change dramatically depending on which engine was used.

I re-engined with an AD31P and considered the KAD, at the time it was only 500 quid more and as spce was at a premium I opted for the AD engine.
Very pleased with it, engineers had my little Fairline Holiday asking for more a 28kts.

So price wise not a lot in it then. I spoke with someone today and he said the Kad because it was supercharged would also be noisier. Surprising what you learn.

Yes, but only whilst it's running. Remember that once you get over a certain number of revs the supercharger stops and the turbo takes over. Therefore this is not an issue if you're berthed near to the open sea but can be a pain if you're at Port Solent where there's a 10 knot speed limit through Portsmouth harbour.
