Yes I know the above is normally an oxymoron but try this.
Needed various bits for V^*v* 140As equivalent to V^&v* 240 or B21 in Draco Cordis, Keypart sent their "bargains list" in just recently so I had a phone around based on that.
Went to B & B car spares in Maidstone yesterday which is where B & B live and brought 2 x cam belts @ £ 7.50 +VAT each (Keypart price £ 18.67 + VAT no P&P whilst on offer), 2 x Timing belt tensioners @ £ 17.75 + VAT(KP £ 52.00 + etc), Fresh water pump £ £ 24.00 +VAT (KP £ 149.54+ VAT etc). Not checked tensioners or belts yet but am sure they're the same, now the water pump is slightly different granted, as it has another port and the hose bit is a fraction too long but I am sure I can modify it it with little grief and at that saving it will be worth the effort! Especially as I really need another one for the other engine!

I went into an accessory shop and asked for a radiator cap for a Volvo 306 and he said to me "sounds like a fair swap to me mate"

Most, if not all, of the bits on the four pot volvo are the same as the car. The bits that are dedicated marine are the dizzy, and alternater. They say that the starter is as well, but its not. The thing that makes it "marine" is a bit of heat shrink round the solnoid. I got ripped for 400 quid for a starter and found out my local car spares place listed the same Bosch unit at 85 quid. That works out at 315 quid for a bit of heat shrink and a volvo box!

I rebuilt the head earlier this year and volvo wanted to charge around 175 quid for the gasket set for the top end. Car spares place charged 29 quid for a head set which included the extra gaskets for the valve cover and the valve stem oil seals.

Fom what I can see the only other marine bits are the exaust manifold and the oil cooler and the fresh water header tank and heat exchanger.

Ummm.. water pump is definitely different, just been out in garage with old and new and verniers working out the differences. Shouldn't be too difficult to resolve.
Have stripped and resprayed both header tanks and heatexchanger housings and resprayed in a different (non-V*&^o) shade of red. And very pretty they look too!

Clive, so I can just stand back and watch you change the timing belts then? After all that training on Mr. Perkins you should be an expert, especially once you've done the head gasket on Weds. :-8

On the water pump side of things, there's 2 specified for the cars. One has, as you say, an extra out let. This is for the later cars with a self bleeding thing for the closed cooling system. The earlier one doesn't have it. Get the one for the earlier car. I think it was the 240 series car pre 85 is the one you want. If you have probs I have an account at a wholesale motor factors. Forbsies saved a few bob there!

Bum.....I'll phone him up and get the earlier pump then, I think because we were talking about 1982 engines which I believe mine are that's why I've ended up with this pump. Funnily enough just found Volvo 240 Haynes manual for car on e bay so that should cover some of the different bits as the Seloc manual is a bit vague in some areas.

Thanks for that

It came from Keypart for £ 20, covers all the Petrol engines and drives from 1968 to 91.
Unfortunately although it's good for an over view bits of it are 'orribly vague, like around the freshwater pump. Funnily enough the outdrives are covered in a great deal of depth (sic), strange as I doubt the average user would do much more than change the oil, whereas they are more likely to get involved in the engine.
If you want a quick peruse of mine before ordering then drop me a PM as I am in Lordswood, Chatham.
