I have the same engine in a Sadler 34 and 2 winters ago while replacing my Ring Gear I also found a broken rear Starboard engine mount. They are studs pressed and back punch flattened in the top steel plate of the Rubber base section.
My threaded stud was flopping about in the base.
I chased around everywhere for replacements and as MoodySabre says, was offered them at £70+, but was told to replace all 4 or at least in pairs.
I decided to weld the stud to the top plate… Mig welder, less than 5 minutes work, was careful about cooling and heat distribution on the rubber bit.
2 seasons later it’s still perfect and not had a problem at all.
I suppose it all depend on where yours is broken…………
I fannied around trying to get away with replacing just one and then just 2 of the mounts. Didnt work at all - ended up having to replace all 4 when the vibration magically disappeared (along with my wallet /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif )
Check the front studs - one of mine had failed but it was invisible, and not just to me either
Yes Wotayottie. When I found the broken one I checked the other 3.
I was possibly just lucky but 2 seasons later and no vibration or problems and as you might guess because of a broken one you tend to check them more regularly.
Don’t you just love VP spare prices? Fortunately I do all my own work but after a complete bare metal rebuild on one about 8 or 9 years ago I reckon I could nearly have bought a new engine for the cost of the parts I purchased. However I suppose I shouldn’t complain had many of their engines over the past 25 plus years, and as engines go they are good.
I use Keypart and agree they are good but for Engine mounts “ Aldeburgh” might also consider, R & D Marine, at Baldock 01462 892391.
