Anybody out there know what there will be in the way of visitors moorings at lundy this season?

We didn't find any identifiable visitors' buoys last year. Took a vacant buoy to be told that it belonged to someone but he wasn't wanting to use it for a couple of days, so no problem.

yeah, had similar myself.
everything I read suggests that due to it being a marine conservation zone, moorings have been laid to avoid damage from anchors. Yet everytime I have been there the few moorings that are there seem to belong to local fishermen.
Id really like to go and do a solid bit of island exploring this season for several days rather than just passing through and I'd like a means of leaving the boat unattended yet secure.
of course if these easterlies keep blowing the landing bay will be out anyway

I really would not want to risk that even if there have been some decent buoys laid in the last few months and as far as I am aware, there havent been any laid. Shelter is ok in a westerly but any sort of east and even north makes the shelter poor

yes I know it can get awful there. Was thinking of cruising with just my father and I on board and it would have been nice to go ashore together but I guess not then....
by the looks of some of the moorings I have seen there in the past the boat would be safer lying to anchor anyway!
I think theres a sort of harbourmaster/ land office warden I might drop him an email.

There are no visitors moorings as such.
The moorings that are there are put down by a couple of charter boats, diving clubs, the wardens mooring etc.
These moorings are by permission of the Island manager but not maintained by the Island, the wardens being the exception.
It always surprises me to see people picking up a mooring when the integrity of it is unknown to them.
It is frustrating to end a days diving when we are staying overnight to find a yacht on our named mooring only to find nobody on board because they are up the pub, if you pick a named mooring you should be around to do the right thing and be available to move.

not a problem to anchor in the landing area, plenty of room and good holding ground, we regularly anchor over night, most yachts that pick up a buoy are just too lazy to anchor.
Lundy did put down a few visitors buoys a few years ago, i woulnt trust them
