Visitor moorings in Poole

Unfortunately, my plans for the coming weekend look to be going down the heads, unless there is a dramatic upturn in the weather. Strong winds are forecast for Friday and the weekend, and we want the trip to be fun, not a mission. Unless we get a significant improvement, Poole will have to wait for another day. Shame!

Welcome to the Solent and early summer plans Paul.

We may have to have a GinFest on Deacons this weekend, rather than Bournemouth. :D

Sounds like a great alternative! Drop me a line when you're headed this way next and we'll meet up, we're at Cobbs Quay, which is only minutes from anywhere else you might tie up within the harbour (not including waiting for flippin lifting bridges!)

If you're thinking about Cobbs Quay at the moment, it is worth checking on the town bridge timing. During weekdays only one side is open due to ongoing works and it's a little tight with beamier boats.

cripes! I wasn't aware of that!! I've just got used to it being all up... that'll be fairly tight for us I think, thanks for the heads up.

We visited last Thursday and with our ~4.5m beam there seemed to be about a metre of clearance on each side.
We departed at 7.30am on Tuesday, as on weekdays one side of the town bridge is down from 7.45am until 6.15pm.
