Visitor mooring bouys Orwell

Are there any visitor mooring bouys anywhere on the Orwell, I am looking for a couple of hours for picnic or fishing rather than overnight. Nothing seems to be marked up at all but don't want to tie up to a vacant one if it might belong to someone thx

You won’t have a problem, there are many many empty mooorings especially near Pin Mill and upstream to Woolverstone.

We’re on a mooring at Pin Mill and there are always boats stopping for lunch. There might be a charge for overnight, but not for a brief stop

Just grab any one, as long as you’re staying on the boat. I usually make a beeline for the ones that say ‘private’, but I’m a cantankerous old sod really.

I've always considered it normal East Coast behaviour to borrow a mooring for lunch orca spot of fishing, provided you remain on board and willing to move if the owner turns up.
