VHF transmits but doesn't receive

I had this problem recently with my Standard Horizon GX1500E. It would transmit but not receive, but could just about make out transmissions by winding the squelch below threshold. I changed every antenna connection, which made no difference.

Fault was diagnosed by Standard Horizon as faulty ceramic filters which they replaced for £75. (parts cost £1.20!).

That's interesting, I had the same problem with my SH vhf a year ago. I contacted SH who said the ceramic filters can be affected by some USB phone chargers. Unplugged the charger and the problem went away. Bought a differeng make USB phone charger, no problem.
