VHF DSC Training

Thanks God none of you are Artillery or Forward Air Controllers.

Who would know the difference between 'Repeat' and 'I Say Again' ????

Crossing an active runway some years back, got a message from the ground contoller requesting that correct procedure be observed. Response was along the lines of 'When you adopt correct operating procedure, and stop breakin the bleedin things, I'll adopt correct procedure when using them' /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Got a right rollocking for that one /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif but the boss did see the funny side too /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you did the 3 day HSE first aid course for your divers ticket that is far more comprehensive than the 1 day RYA course. Although I dont think many sailors get gas embolisms /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

yes quite right patrick but where do i put a decompression chamber on a boat thats only 26ft long /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

i would like to do a bit on head injurys,HSE diving training did not cover that, the only diver that i saw with a head injury was given a 5 second examination from a doctor who was flown out to the barge, the doc looked at him for 5 secs than walked away,i protested, the doc said,he has a brain hemorage only god can save him,it took two hours for the guy to pass away.

The doc later told me that if he had been within 30 mins of a neuro surgical team then it may have been possible.

Me Sir, please Sir...........
I was a RN Fighter Controller so sort of the same thing but telling RN, RAF and US Fly boys where to go!

Feet dry
Pigeons to Homeplate
Bogies on your nose
Call a new radio # then say POGO

All the old sayings just keep rolling back.

About 25 posts back somebody asked about first aid courses.

I booked for one in April which got cancelled and hasn't been re-arranged so that's still on my list of things to do.

They run the RYA first aid course at Bradwell Outdoors centre, the next being in September. Unless anybody has any better ideas.

Shall I start a poll?

No, alright then.

A bit late joining in, but we went to Maldon Little Ship Club, pretty good. No idea when they are next running, but Google them and you'll find them.

Reminds me of a conversation I had a couple of weeks ago with a certain GibSea of these parts....

".... are you coming over over"

"yes... we soon be over over"

"well.... we'll see you when you get over out"

"13c we require med assistance as we've just rolled our land rover over over" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hi guys,

Just got the heads up from Dave ref this, and Clive, Tina has your e-mail at the short trail!!!

Yes, we do the GMDSS Short range Course, well actually all the RYA Theory courses, and the Practical ones too.

How many want to do it?

I'll come to a central point for you all, or send an Instructor to you.

Have a nose, excuse the blatant advertising, but this isn't Buttlescutter or the Slounge,

Speak soon.

Hi Al

It looks like there are at least 5 of us interested in a course and it looks like the Cambridge area is preferable.

How many do you need to make it viable?

If it is a small number could it be done at someones home?
If not I can try to sort some accommodation in the Cambridge area.
What dates would you have available?

It can be done at someones home, as long as they are willing to have us there. We will need a laptop/computer for each person.

Sign up guys and girls!!

post your names,

I will speak to Tina when we are together tomorrow.

Glad I can help!!!

Al, self and Louise, on the list as requested
Will internet laptop be needed ?. Have a couple of lappies, but only this one has internet and I don't fancy bringing the pc /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Al

That is grand.

I am happy to offer our back room in Cambridge.
I have a lap top and may be able to borrow another one from work.

Some time in the 1st 2 weeks of August would be o.k.
SWMBO is away then so we would not be disterbing her. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
