VHF/DSC MMSI & call sign change!

The mmsi and call sign should stay with the boat.
Apply for your ships radio license in your name using the Ofcom website.
Correct, go to Ship radio and ship portable radio and scroll down to where it says "I have just bought a vessel which has a licence. How do I transfer it into my name?"

and on that page it also says the previous owner has to surrender their licence.....

Works the same way in other countries too, the call sign, MMSI and ATIS stay with the boat on the SHIPS Licence.
I have two radios both with the same MMSI and ATIS, one is the fixed radio and the other is the handheld, for some locations here we are obliged to carry two radios on separate frequencies.

Hi, maybe it is different in Belgium but in the UK if the handheld/portable VHF has DSC it must have a separate licence ("Ship Portable Radio Licence") so it has a different MMSI number to the one assigned to the vessel.
