very cheap tender

Re: So what would you do about it?

has anyone kindly flagged to Compass the source of all their orders? they might be wondering why so many people have simultaneously placed and order in the UK but may not have heard of Scuttlebutt (and its power!!)

Re: So what would you do about it?

Yeah, I'd give 'em a phone if I were you to arrange a delivery time. You would'nt want to be down at the post office collecting yer pension when they try and stuff it through yer letter box!

Re: So what would you do about it?

Huh, that's nuffink, I've also ordered quite a bit of anchor chain from 'em and loads of marine ply from B&Q and am going to floor 'em all to use as pontoons and open a new marina with my 2670.

Dear Sirs

Please refer to your terms and conditions, as my order was accepted by your company in witting I feel that you have a legal obligation to honour your side to the contract.

[/ QUOTE ] Ah yes, the old witting. That'll be the get-out for Compass then /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: order cancelled

Had mine too, but not very impressed . A missive saying in effect "Forget our publicity blurb and 'price promises', we will charge what we like when we like for our stock, we wont honour any mistakes, so get lost". Methinks they need to hire a new PR man - as well as a new typist!

Come on guys are we going to let them off the hook that easily? I think we can get them sweating a bit more than this have this morning before we call it a day.

Unethical? Then why did so many of us jump on the bandwagon to wind them up in the first place...hmmm?

Compass trying to get out of a hole?

They've canceled my order too.

This is my reply

Dear Mr Marney

I think I have a contract with your company to supply the dinghy at the price advertised.

In English Contract Law your web site counts as an "Invitatation to treat". I make an offer to purchase the said goods, which is then formally accepted by your company by the email notification back to me..

I suggest you have a word with your legal advisors who will no doubt quote the relevant case law.

I await your reply with interest.

[/ QUOTE ]Good point.
Why don't you consider teaming up and threaten a class action?
If nothing else, you might easily negotiate a gadget like the following for each cancelled order...

Oh, and one more for myself, please. The idea must be worth something!
