eg. Cruiser Christmas Box, run by HISC, Sunday 17th Decemeber. Always a good turn out, all crews dressed up a Santa and Snowmen and all that kinda stuff, often Christmas trees up masts an all. Good fun casual racing, hearty roast lunch ashore at HISC afterwards, which always ends up messy come prize giving time and many many drinkies later!!!
Come along and join in, PM if you cant find the info on the websites...

Sounds like good fun. Pity my boats out of the water and in Wales at that!
You don't HAVE to join a racing club to race around here: HISC holds a few Open events, like their Nab/Sparkes Races, a Regatta and the Sunday-morning Winter series, whereas CCRC is totally committed to racing most weekends either in the Bay or on passage to a Solent venue with a social at the other end.
AND CCRC welcomes anyone from another Federation club who wants to participate, so you can join a club where it suits you.
I must warn you that this is 'real' racing, with proper starts, courses, rules and protests, which you may find daunting at first (I know I did when I began some 20 years ago) and there will be minimum equipment requirements of course, usually based on the RYA standards published in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008.
Feedback from the Emsworth area is that cruiser racing is not a very dynamic scene these days but there are plenty of opportunities elsewhere. Specifically, CCRC are addressing the issue of introducing novices to the action, and we wait to see what they will offer next season.
HOWEVER if you want really relaxed racing where rule infringements cost you a round in the pub instead of disqualification then you should look at the ISCC, another Federation member based at the Shore Inn, East Wittering, and I can vouch for their laid-back approach!
I have 2007 dates for these and ALL Chichester clubs to hand, including contact details. As has been said, individual club websites don't really give a fair impression of what to expect - nor how easy or difficult it may be to get in. But that's another story!
Incidentally, you won't find many rules and regs in your own club's Frostbite Series, the Little Ship Fast Cruise events on 9 Dec, 20 Jan, 17 Feb & 17 March, all starting locally.
I'm afraid that anyone using those Federation links should be warned that altho a total of 18 HISC Sundowner & Winter events have been added to the Cruiser Diary as I requested, there are other omissions, including nearly a dozen races.
More serious, two clubs have been omitted from the list altogether, while many of the contacts are out-of-date since recent AGM's.
You'd think someone would have checked that before blurting into print.
