It must be some ingress of water in order for Escoffier to set off his beacon - wonder if the hull has been punctured or whether something catastrophically failed.

Pickup has been made. Escoffier was in his liferaft. It looks like between 1347 when he activated his beacon, and 1600 when JLC arrived on scene PRB sank.

That is rather quick.
 
Yeah its not confirmed that PRB sank or that he's been picked up. Hopefully we will get confirmation soon that Cam has successfully got him onboard.

Thanks Flaming good detective work. The AiS shows a cargo ship about 150 miles astern heading in same direction so maybe he will take Escoffier off Yes We Cam in the morning?

Hoping Escoffier is unhurt.

Meanwhile back in the race Louis Burton is now 311 miles behind Dalin in first place having been 650 miles behind 5 or 6 days ago. He'll be up into third next update and chasing a "wounded" Ruyant.
 
Marine Traffic still showing Le Cam still in the same area as PRB's last position.
Pickup can't be easy singlehanded in 24 knot winds.
No further news on VG site or Twitter beyond "preparing to recover"
Hoping for the best.

Burton has a better sailing angle, as well, at the minute. Dalin has to reach to avoid the ugliness around Aguilla and to get where he is going.
Burton has got himself in a nice position with a downwind course. - Esp since they're both about to sail into an area of higher winds. The seastate can't be pretty, particularly where Dalin is on the periphery of Aguilla.

I would be surprised if Burton (doesn't) improve his position (in terms of their relative distances to finish) by 80 odd miles over the next 18 hours.
 
Maybe Alex could pick him up from JLC and let him get on his way. Alex is going that way anyway and he looked like he could do with some company on his last video.
