Vendée Globe 2016-2017

Various forecasts...

The spot fix on the Foss tracker disagrees with the colourful arrows. I suspect that the spot fix is right, and he has only got 5 knots of breeze.

Another clip from AT on the Vendee Globe web TV site which states it was put
up 40 mins ago.
Talking about another weather front to deal with tonight - he is looking in good
spirits and a lot more cheerful than his previous video clip from 2 days ago.

I could be wrong, however the spot fix I'm looking at is giving Alex 25 knots of wind.......................... therefor = BIG problem for him or the boat

Hope you are right and that might explain the quick gybes as well.

Thanks for the link, what I'm not sure about is he should be in 25 to 30 knots of wind.

Where does the data come from on the boat?, could it be damaged?

Just seems strange and I hope I'm barking up the wrong tree, but have an awfully bad feeling about this.

I don't think it's data from the boat, I think it's predicted wind.

What's odd at the moment is that it doesn't seem to tally with the nice colourful arrows. But Armel is similarly off, as he's only doing 9 knots and he's supposed to have 18 knots of breeze.
That's what makes me think the weather data on the main tracker has missed a hole.

I hope your right..........................

If you go on Windytv and load the ECMWF model, you can see both boats are in the wind-hole.

The Windytv/vendee page seems to use GFS model which differs a lot from ECMWF at this point.

New video update from AT via Facebook (sorry can't seem to post a link, on iPad)

Stuck in a low, no wind, will bleed miles today. If you're a fan, don't look at the tracker! He seems quite upbeat though.

Anybody got news of the 11am positions?

I've got everything crossed he'll win, but whatever happens it should be ' Sir Alex ' - nobody has worked harder for UK Ltd...:encouragement:
Hear hear

I think the mainstream media is missing a trick - this is far more than just a story for sailors, yet I haven't coverage anywhere
