run the wind on 48hrs. ALC will have to come north. I'm sure that Tommo has decided to position himself to go over the top of the low which will move from the north.
That was my initial thought too - but not so clear on reflection.
Maybe ALC will keep on his current heading and go under the low. He will still be getting +20knots of wind and will only need to be close hauled for a short period before getting back onto a long period of port reaching. By aiming to go over the top of the low, AT will be punishing himself yet more in 40-50knot winds and taking a longer route. Not clear to me that AT has made the best choice.
